19 year old Lauren Hill recently fulfilled her life-long dream to play in a college basketball game. She had a scholarship to play college basketball, but was later diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The brain tumor quickly grew and was leading towards her inevitable end. Mount St. Joseph’s University worked with the opposing basketball team and the NCAA to move their starting first game up so that Lauren could play.
Lauren’s slogan has remained “Never give-up”. More than 10,000 fans wore t-shirts and sweatshirts bearing her name and that slogan. Lauren came off the bench late in the game to chants of “We want Lauren”. She hit the final layup in the last nine seconds of the game. She said that “today has been the best day I’ve ever had”.
We never know when our brief time here will pass. We want to make sure that we have “lived before we died”. Do something exciting today.
